Welcome Back! I hope you had a restful Thanksgiving break! :)
This week we finished up our unit on World Percussion. Students worked very hard to perform in a 5 part percussion ensemble called "High Life" this week. Students were even introduced to a brand new instrument called the güiro, which is from Latin America. Students had a two part test on Wednesday. The written part of the test covered different vocabulary words that we have been using throughout our studies on world percussion. To see a full list of vocabulary that we've been studying click HERE. The second half of the assessment was performance based. Each student was required to pick a part of the "High Life Ensemble" that we have been working on the past week and perform that part alone and then within the context of the ensemble. I want to congratulate each student on a job well done! Be sure to check ParentPortal for your child's grades!
Thursday was a very exciting day as we embarked on our journey to study beginning guitar. During this unit each student will learn how to play 6 notes and several chords on the guitar! Students will learn several short melodies and one very famous piece in just a few weeks! Be sure to check our weekly blog for pictures and videos of us exploring the guitar!
We have a very busy few weeks before winter break ahead of us! I can't wait to watch each student progress as the continue to explore the world of music!
