This week in Exploring Music 6 we finished up our first unit on World Percussion. Our time together has been full of learning, fun, and music! This week we focused on learning one final ensemble called "High Life". This ensemble featured three different drums parts that all started at different times! This was a challenge for the Exploring Music 6 classes, but we learned that practice really does make perfect as we got the drum parts down by the end of the week! The acousti-block was featured in this ensemble and presented some syncopated rhythms! Ask your student what the word syncopated means! We learned about a new instrument called the Güiro, too! On Wednesday we had our final World Percussion assessment. Be sure to check out ParentPortal for your student's results!
Friday brought us new excitment as we began to focus on our second unit: Beginning Guitar! Students viewed a slide show all about guitars in class and were asked to fill out a worksheet that will eventually turn into a study guide at the end of the unit. To view the slideshow click HERE. To download the worksheet students were asked to complete while viewing the slideshow click HERE. Be sure to check back next week to see pictures and maybe even a few videos of us in action!
