Ipads & Garageband!
This week in Exploring Music 6 we began our final unit on Music Technology! During our unit on Music Technology students will be working individually and in pairs utilizing the Garageband App for the Ipad. Students will complete several projects during this unit.
Students were assigned the first project on Wednesday this week. Students learned about musical form or the structure / pattern of music. Students learned that in music we illustrate patterns by using letters of the alphabet. For each new section of music we give a new letter. Students worked with ABA form. We created ABA patterns using shapes on the SmartBoard, and then we listened to some musical examples to see if we could recognize the ABA pattern just by listening! Students did a great job with this activity!

Students were given class time on Wednesday and Thursday to complete the first assignment on the Ipad. Students were required to use loops, and Smart Instruments. They needed to have drums, piano, bass, and a guitar sound somewhere in the 24 measure composition. On Friday we started class by having a listening concert where each student was able to showcase his and her work to the rest of the class. Students gave great feedback during this listening concert!
Be sure to check back next week to hear student compositions!
