I can't believe that we are half way through our time together already! This week we made lots of progress learning about the guitar! In fact, the students are Exploring Music 6 are on the way to becoming professional players :)
Monday we learned about the importance of tuning and how to tune our instruments! This was a long process the first time we did it, but the students are getting faster and better at tuning their guitars every day! We also learned how to play three notes on Monday! These notes were E, F, and G. Each note can be found on the first string!
We started learning to read musical notation written on the staff, too. We thought about the staff as a musical neighborhood. Each note lives at a specific address. E resides at 4 space street, F lives at 5 line street, and G has a special address! G lives in the first space above the staff. Each note can be found on the first string by putting our fingers on different frets.

The rest of the week brought lots of practice time as the students learned they would be participating in the first performance quiz of the guitar unit on Friday! To see the piece that students were required to perform as duets please click HERE. Students had to perform #8 which is titled "Spanish Theme Song".
