I can't believe that the term / year is winding down! We have had a blast exploring music together! During our time together we have studied new instruments from all around the world, learned to play as an ensemble, learned about musical concepts such as dynamics and balance, learned a brand new instrument (guitar) and we even learned how to read musical notation! We have composed our very own music and performed using instruments that we created as well as discovered the musical possibilities that technology makes available to us. We know what musical form is, how to write lyrics, and we can compose our own music using GarageBand for Ipad, too! We've been very busy in room 100!
This week we combined all of the different units that we have learned about together for a final super project! Our assignment this week was to create and compose our very own accompaniment track (kind of like a karaoke track) for the song "Ode to Joy" which we learned to play on the guitar earlier in the term. Students had to create this using Garageband and then at the end of the week, we learned how to play the melody on the guitar WITH our background music playing! Students really enjoyed being able to play the melody along with back up music that they created, composed, and recorded on their own! Check out some of the pictures and videos below to see and hear some of our finished products!
As the school year comes to a close I want to say a quick thank you for allowing me to work with your students this year! It has been a pleasure working with each and every student and watching them grow musically! The students of Exploring Music have worked hard this term / year and I am very proud of all that they have accomplished! Thank you for sharing your student with me! Have a safe and happy summer! See you in September!
