This week in Exploring Music 6 we wrapped up our unit on the Beginning Guitar. Students have been hard at work learning how to play the song "Ode to Joy" by Beethoven. This song was challenging for us because we use all 6 notes that we've learned to play on two different strings of the guitar! Students were paired up for the majority of the week and were able to rehearse in a small group setting. Be sure to check out the video of us below performing "Ode to Joy" which will be posted on a special blog edition on Monday!
Monday the students will have their final guitar test! This assessment will have two parts: a written component and a performance component. Check out ParentPortal to see your musician's results! Grades should be posted Monday afternoon!
I can't believe that we are about to enter our very last unit already! OnTuesday each student will be assigned an Ipad to work with for the remainder of the term. We will work with a program called GarageBand. Students will complete three main projects: a project dealing with musical form, a jingle project, and a music minus one project. I can't wait to see what each composer creates during our final unit on Music Technology. Be sure to check next week's blog for pictures and maybe some recorded examples of student work!
