I can't believe that we are already half way through the month of December, and that we are already half way through the term! Time flies when you're having fun!
This week marked the start of our beginning guitar unit! We started off the week by looking at different types of guitars, parts of guitars, and how sound is produced on the different types instruments. Ask your student if they remember the difference between the way sound is produced on an acoustic instrument and an electric instrument!
Throughout the rest of the week we focused on learning to play our first three notes! E, F, and G! We practiced the notes we had learned by reading music on the staff as well as playing by ear. We talked about important musical symbols and we even wrote our very own compositions utilizing those musical symbols! We composed our own guitar music utilizing musical symbols and the notes E, F, and G, and then had an in class performance in small ensembles.
Check back next week to see how much more we have learned!
