Wow! I can't believe that today is the last day of January and that today marks the last day of the second term! It has been a pleasure working with each student in Exploring Music this term. I want to thank them for the hard work that they put into learning a new language and wish them good luck as they go on to explore another language! During our final week together we created accompaniment tracks on the Ipads (kind of like a karaoke track) for the song "Ode to Joy", which we had learned how to play on the guitar earlier in the term. Each student created an accompaniment track utilizing both pre-made loops and Smart Instruments and had the opportunity to play the melody to "Ode to Joy" on the guitar along with the track they had created on the Ipad. The students did a fantastic job on this project! We learned that playing along with accompaniment can be tricky, but also very rewarding when we play well! Each project was well done, and I enjoyed listening to each student use all of the knowledge they gained this term to be creative in this cumulative project! Check a video of us playing along with our accompaniment tracks below! Throughout our journey of Exploring Music 6, we have learned how to play new instruments (some we had never even heard of before!), how to play as an team or ensemble, how to playing musically by adding in dynamics to our music, about different musical symbols, and how to read musical notation, tabs, and chord changes. We even created our own instruments, music, and products while we utilized guitars, percussion and music technology! Congratulations on a wonderful second term! - Ms. Barkin |
